Does reality TV perpetuate too many negative stereotypes of women?

I have been bothered by this for a long time. When I flip my channels in the afternoons there is always some reality tv drama of catty trashy women. Sometimes an entire episode would be devoted to going to the mall and paying for a bunch of clothes as if that's what all American girls do for a day. There are way too many Kim Kardashanian/Paris Hilton types who do nothing but act like leeches.
