Why did my boyfriend do this on our first date?

So my boyfriend and I had our first date at the movies and It was really awkward because we haven't seen each other for months and we only txted each other. So we were walking into the theater and I asked how his summer was so far and he said good and then we went and sat down. He handed me some of his popcorn and his hands were shaking lol and so were mine when i grabbed for some. We made jokes about the preveiws and then the movie started. Oh and get this he never sat beside me! he sat 1 chair away from me! I don't know why he did this. After the date he seemed in a hurry and we walked to the front of the movie theater and talked on our phones. in no later then 3 min he was leaving and all he said was "bye see you in a month haha". Not even a ******* hug or anything. I was so confused and upset afterwards. please no rude comments
